The Sand Cats are large cat predators, a "cousin" of sorts to the housecat Soraya's; both are long-distant relatives of the now extinct Cheetah. In the African savannah, the Sand Cat have taken over the cheetah's niche in the environment - they hunt big game prey and allow for smaller creatures, such as the jackals, to eat from their kills.
Sand Cats typically are solitary cats, living only with their jackal friends, and venturing out to find each other during mating season. The cubs live with the mother until they are a year and a half old.
Sand cats are non-magical, but closely allied with the wild magic.
