The Vendetta's
The Vendetta's are a group of stray, domestic dogs organized and lead by the rogue KG, Aesis. Aesis abandoned the KG and took over this pack after rumors spread his beloved Carasu had been euthenized. They live on an abandoned farm just outside the city; safe from the KG who won't go out of their way to both them, the pack they consider merely a mild annoyance than a threat.
Shortly after the Vendetta's, newly named by Aesis, acquired two new members; Amaya and Sayer, both friends of Aesis and Carasu, bringing the pack up to a grand total of three KG dogs. The pack's main purpose is to "liberate" all creatures of the humans, and attempt to convince both KG and magicals alike to rebel and take over.
The still active KG dogs, for the most part, have been told to ignore the Vendetta's and wave off their incessant whining about humans, but may as with any creature, may take out any dog that they believe poses a threat. Dangers to the V Pack: Annoyed KG, diseases (all are non vaccinated strays)
A Narrative from Aesis
When a KG disappears, you don't talk about it. Especially if they were old. You know what happened; old dogs eventually lag behind and just become a weak link in the group. The humans can't have a weak link: weak links mean room for a criminal to get away, a predator to destroy a family. Old dogs are taken to the medic and never seen again. The dogs know what happened, their team member euthenized before they slowed down the pack - but dogs don't harp on it long; dogs move on. Aesis refused to move on. He woke up one day to find his beloved Carasu, a fourteen year old fellow KG, had disappeared. No one seemed to know where she'd gone to.
At first he didn't worry. As the protectors of the city, you could go days without seeing a team member if they were out on a mission. After a week the rumors began; Carasu had been taken away late at night by a human. She was an old dog, they said; "it was past her time..." was hushed. They remembered the last time Aesis had believed she was dead. He didn't really remember it. He didn't remember this time either. Only the blood on the ground and the sound of Rampart's voice behind him. It began when the new dog was introduced.. the only missing place was Carasu's. Once you've been replaced, that's the way of announcing that dog would never be coming back. Aesis made it out of the city; how he wasn't sure. Rampart was faster; maybe he'd shocked the poor General and had a lead. Or had he injured him..? "You can never come back!" echoed behind him; had he left the KG? He sat for a minute to think. He'd never heard of a dog just leaving the KG.. it just didn't happen. You were killed, put down, or sold, but you didn't leave of your own free will. What was he supposed to do..? His aimless wandering eventually brought him to a small patch of farmland. At first glance it looked abandoned, until a lone shepherd poked his head out from inside a beat down truck. The dog gave him a wary look, an active KG standing in his territory. The two brushed paths, as well as several other dogs that apparently lived on the farm, several times in the passing hours. They did their best to keep their distance from him; which was good. He couldn't help lashing out at them when they got close; he'd come down from being blacked out in rage, but the rage was still there. He tortured the mice on the floor of the barn for hours until the shepherd appeared again. The shepherd's name was Blitz, a farm dog who belonged to the family that owned the place. Past tense, owned. When the soil proved bad for growing the family left, without their dogs; apparently not needing a farm dog where they were going. The other dogs the shepherd had grown up with had left years ago when food stopped filling their bowls. He alone remained on the farm, eventually collecting a few other strays that now lived with him, all out or the normal reach of the dreaded KG. It was the shepherd that gave Aesis his new purpose; two dogs that had been betrayed by the humans they'd so faithfully served.
